Employee management, training, supervision. I work with all power tools, hydraulic jacks, hand tools, rollers. 7) What jobs are above and below you on the organization chart? Above: None Below: Technician, Laborer. 8) How did you get into this career? And what was your career path to your present position? I was a Manufactured housing community manager, dealt with contractors, learned how they did what they did, and started doing some of my own work for the community, then when I thought I was ready I took my license exam. Stresses and Rewards of a Mobile Home Contractor 9) What are the greatest stresses, what causes you the most anxiety? (List as many as you want to) 1. Customer problems 2. Deadlines 3. Employee attitudes 10) What are the most rewarding aspects that make it all worth while? (List as many as you like) The money is excellent, the sense of accomplishment. 11) Do you work closely with persons outside your organization? Please comment on those relationships. Are they stressful or pleasant and why. [Not just clientele, i.e., teachers who have to deal with parents etc.] Yes, I work with various other contractors who for the most part are excellent to work with. Some are not so fun to be around. Challenges of a Mobile Home Contractor 12) What problems will be addressed by your industry (affecting your position) in the next five years? The industry is pretty stable on the repair end. I don't foresee any problems in the near future. Basic Skills of a Mobile Home Contractor 13) We know you most probably use all these skills at one time or another, but on a basic level, what skills does your job demand? Check all that apply. _X_Creativity ___ Emotional Distancing ___ Emotional Involvement _X_Language _X_Manual Dexterity ___ Musical Interpretation _X_Numeracy _X_Physical Ability _X_Persistence _X_Social Skills _X_Time Management _X_Visual Interpret. Advice of a Mobile Home Contractor 14) As a conclusion, what words of advice would you give a person entering your field in the next four years? (i.e., education, internship, find a mentor, jump right in, etc.) Find someone to work with as a helper to learn all you can, then, once you have the experience, think about running your own business. I think if you are getting a good pay rate, and or benefits, being a laborer or installer is a smart way to go. You can make good money without the headaches of business management. But management does have its' advantages. 15) Comments and/or relevant web site link: 2002 JobProfiles.org We don't do resumes; nor job matching. Just career exploration.
