Purpose: HUD has been providing mortgage insurance on manufactured homes under Title I since 1969. By protecting mortgage lenders against the risk of default, HUD's participation has encouraged them to finance manufactured homes, which had traditionally been financed as personal property through comparatively high-interest, short-term consumer installment loans. The program thereby increases the availability of affordable financing and mortgages for buyers of manufactured homes and allows the buyers to finance purchase of their home at a term and interest rate comparable with the commercial loans typically used to finance manufactured homes. Type of Assistance: Title I programs offer coinsurance--HUD insures private lenders against losses of up to 90 percent of the value of a single loan, while the lender retains responsibility for the remaining 10 percent. In addition, the insurance coverage is limited to 10 percent of the lender's Title I portfolio. The buyer must agree to make a downpayment and interest rate payments determined by the lender. Title I insurance may be used for loans of up to $64,800 for a manufactured home and lot and $16,200 for a lot only. The lot must be appraised by a HUD-approved lender. The dollar limits for combination and lot loans may be increased up to 85 percent in designated high-cost areas. The maximum loan term is 20 years for a single-module home and lot, 25 years for a multiple module home and lot, and 15 years for a lot only. Eligible Grantees: Private lending institutions are eligible for insurance on loans made under the program. Eligible Customers: All buyers of manufactured homes who plan to use the homes as their principal residence are eligible for the program. Eligible Activities: Application: Buyers of manufactured homes may apply for insurance through a HUD-approved lender or through a lender's approved Retailer. CLICK HERE to find a nearby HUD-approved Title I lender . Technical Guidance: The program is authorized under Title I, Section 2 of the National Housing Act (12 U.S.C. 1703). Program regulations are in 24 CFR Part 201. These regulations, as well as applicable handbooks and notices, are available electronically through HUDCLIPS . The program is administered by the Office of Housing, Federal Housing Administration. Contact the Home Improvement Branch at (202) 708-2121 for more information. For More Information: For more information, refer to "Financing Manufactured Homes, HUD-265-H(10), available from the HUD Customer Service Center, 1-800-767-7468. Information can also be found at the HUD-approved Title I lender page or you can contact a HUD-approved housing counseling agency . Williams Transport Motor Coach Service - About The Service About The Service The Williams Transport Motor Coach Service is a wholly-owned, independent business of Williams College, whose goal is to serve the Williams College student body by providing reliable, comfortable, and safe transportation for students during breaks in the academic year. During Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Dead Week, Spring Break, and at the End of School, the Motor Coach Service runs luxury motor coaches to Albany, New York City, and Boston. Our motor coaches seat at least 55 adults in individually reclining seats and are equipped with a lavatory, VCR, televisions, a separate baggage compartment and a mobile phone. Motor Coach Service History It is our understanding that the Bus Service (as it was known) was originally founded and run as a for profit business in the late 1970's by Steve Case'80, current Chairman of AOL Time Warner. Upon his graduation, the Bus Service was continued by other Williams students. At some point at the end of the 1980's / beginning of the 1990's, the Williams College Council assumed control of the service and changed its name to the CC Bus Service. In the mid-1990's, the Bus Service was not well organized. Rumor has it that the buses left when the driver decided the bus was full (there was no set departure time) and the service chartered old, uncomfortable, un-airconditioned school buses. With the service in serious financial trouble in early 1998, freshman Phil Swisher'01 was named the service's new director. During Swisher's tenure as Director, the Service became profitable and was greatly improved by the replacment of old school busses with new, luxury motor coaches (hence our current name: CC Motor Coach Service). In Spring 1998, Swisher added Boston Logan and North Station routes and expanded the service to include Hartford in fall 1999. For the first time, students were able to charge their tickets to their term bill in 1998 and new professionally printed tickets were used. During the 2000-2001 school year, Swisher expanded the CC Motor Coach Service to include 111 scheduled departures, which covered over 315,000 passenger miles. Upon Swisher's graduation, Drew Newman'04 was appointed the new Director of the CC Motor Coach Service. Through the outstanding computer coding abilities of Joe Masters, the CC Motor Coach Service is being dramatically improved once again. Starting with the 2001-2002 academic year, the service utilized a new online Ticket Reservation, Processing, and Printing system, which will streamline operations and save paper, time, and money. Directorship of the Service, now independent of College Council and renamed Williams Transport, was appointed to Chris Upjohn '07, who worked with Drew Newman and Joe Masters on the implimentation of a new E-Ticket system that will further streamline the Service. During the course of the next three years we look forward to initiating new ventures to better serve the Williams student body. The first of its kind, the computer-controlled ACD system monitors the contours of the road and the motion of the coach, automatically adjusting the suspension to deliver optimum ride comfort and safe handling. The Bilstein ACD System was developed by German engineers in cooperation with both Ferrari and Jaguar. Until now, computer-controlled active shock absorber systems were unavailable for motorhomes. “Our new system represents a phenomenal leap in technology,” said Kevin O’Keefe, director of marketing/sales at Bilstein. “Damon Corporation is now using the most advanced suspension technology available in the motorhome industry.” The new system includes front and rear electronically controlled shock absorbers, input sensors and a computer control module. With a 30-millisecond response time, the system greatly reduces side-to-side as well as up-and-down movement while driving. By automatically adjusting the damping to compensate for acceleration and braking, the new Escaper provides a smoother ride than was previously possible in a motorhome. A dash-mounted switch gives the driver better control of the handling. The system can be adjusted to active handling or a firmer, enhanced-performance handling modes. After being featured at this year’s RVIA trade show in Louisville, the Bilstein ACD System will be available with Escaper motorhomes built on a Spartan® Mountain Master GT chassis. For further information on the new Bilstein ACD System and the Damon Escaper diesel motorhome, contact Damon Corporation at 800-860-5658.
