Animal bite reporting, and rabies quarantine are the number one priority at Animal services.Although we seldom hear of people contracting this fatal disease, rabies is a very real problem in many areas. Most recently, rabies has been reported at epidemic levels in wildlife in the North Eastern States. Rabies is fatal, and all mammals are susceptible to the disease. Even indoor pets can come in contact with rabid bats, one of the most likely carriers. By vaccinating domestic pets, we establish a barrier between possibly rapid wildlife and our families. You can help Winnebago County be "rabies free". Report any animal bite or sick wild animal, avoid handling wild animals, and keep domestic pets up to date with preventive rabies inoculations. Contact your veterinarian for your dog or cats rabies inoculation and other preventive vaccinations for your pets good health. Response and Enforcement. . . Animal Services officers investigate animal related complaints and requests for service twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year in all areas of the County. Services include animal bite reports and rabies control, response to straying, dangerous and nuisance animals, as well as, emergency care for sick and injured animals and animal welfare checks. Officers also enforce all local animal related laws to insure improved public protection and animal welfare. Shelter and Care. . . Animal Services sheltering facility houses and cares for thousands of stray, abandoned, injured and unwanted animals each year. Our staff veterinarian oversees the care and sanitation procedures, as well as, preventive health care needs for animals during their stay. Holding Periods. . . Healthy stray dogs are held for seven days. Cats are held for five days. Animals that are surrendered by their owners have no set holding time. Animals are retained for adoption based on health, temperament, adoptability, and space available. Emergency Care. . . Emergency medical care is provided for injured animals day or night. Untagged strays are give limited care to alleviate suffering until an owner can be found. Tagged animals or those wearing identification are afforded extended emergency care while attempting to contact the owner. Adoption Program. . . Many unwanted animals are given a second chance through the Division's pet adoption program. Adoption fees pay for necessary services such as spay / neuter of the pet, vaccinations and a physical exam. Adopting a pet from Animal Services is often an excellent alternative for those looking to acquire a companion. While RVs are intended for brief leisure activities such as vacations and camping, some people, especially retirees, live in their units and are known as fulltimers. RVs can be rented in major U.S. and Canadian cities. There are different classes of vehicles generally labelled as RVs: A truck camperTruck Camper - unit is affixed to the bed or chassis of a pickup truck. Folding Camping Trailer - also known as a pop-up trailer; a light-weight unit with sides that collapse for towing and storage Travel Trailer - heavier unit with rigid sides designed to be towed by most vehicles by means of a bumper or frame hitch Fifth Wheel Travel Trailer - designed to be towed by a pickup truck equipped with a special hitch in the truck bed Park Model - designed for occasional relocation and will require a special tow vehicle and a highway movement permit Motorhome ("Winnebago", a product of the Winnebago Company that dominated the market for many years, was long a synonym for a motorhome, but this usage has faded in recent years.) Class A Motorcoach - constructed on a specially designed motor vehicle chassis, typically resembling a bus Class B Campervan - built using a conventional van, to which a raised roof has been added Class C Mini-motorhome - built on an automotive manufactured chassis with an attached van cab section Toterhome, a motor home built around a semi truck chassis such as a freightliner. This type of motor home allows you to pull large and heavy trailers while having all the conveniences of a large motor home A minimal RV typically contains beds, a table, food preparation and storage areas. Larger models add full bathrooms, refrigerators, living areas, master bedrooms, etc. Some RVs are very elaborate, with satellite TV and internet access, slide-out wall panels, and awnings; many RVs can cost in excess of $100,000 and some can cost over $1 million. These high end RVs typically need to be financed by banks or specialized lenders. Many RVers stay at RV parks, most of which feature electrical, water and sewer service (full hookups), as well as cable television and wireless Internet. Amenties often include swimming pools, gamerooms and even destination-resort activities such as horseback riding. Advantages of RVs include not having to move one's things in and out of motel rooms, not having to rent multiple motel rooms, and the fact that preparing food saves money compared to eating in restaurants. At the same time, an RV provides more organized living space and better protection from the weather than a tent. Children also tend to like RVs. Disadvantages of RVs include low fuel economy for the motorized RV or tow vehicle, lack of maid service as experienced in motels (maid service is available at a few high-end resorts), and larger RV models can be hard for the novice to drive or tow. Some people also live in RVs because they lack funds for more conventional housing. Similarly, RVs ? specifically, trailers which strongly resemble travel trailers, but usually with fewer amenities ? have been used to temporarily house victims of natural disasters. A notable example is Hurricane Katrina; the federal disaster relief agency FEMA has ordered large numbers of such trailers to house victims of the storm in Louisiana and Mississippi. Some people craft their own RVs out of cars, vans (vandwellers), or used passenger and school buses. Elkhart, Indiana, is known as the "RV Capital of the World" because it is home to many RV manufacturers, including, Forest River, Heartland RV, the Damon Corporation, Four Winds, Hy-Line, Keystone, Monaco, Sun Valley, and Travel Supreme. Many other manufacturers, including Dutchman, Gulf Stream, and Jayco, can be found in the nearby towns of Goshen, Middlebury, Nappanee, and Wakarusa. In 2005, these locales experienced a boom because of the large number of trailers ordered to house Hurricane Katrina victims. RV buyers and sellers.RV Blue Book Values And Prices __________ RVBlue Book Values & Prices Dato Marketing Associates 800-771-2587 RvBuyers Survival Guide What's The Blue Book Value On My RV? Blue Book has become the term of choice for most people interested in finding out the value of a RV. There actually is a Blue Book published for RVs. The Kelley Blue Book Official RV Guides, often misspelled Kelly Blue Book., is one of two national appraisal guide resources available by subsciption to anyone who appraises RVs. They are not published online and are not accessable through the Internet. One Kelley Blue Book Official RV Guide covers Motor Homes, Truck Campers and Van Conversions. The other Kelly Guide covers Travel Trailers, Fifth Wheel Trailers, Folding Trailers ( Popups ) and Park Model Trailers. The other national RV appraisal guide is published by NADA and is also not available on the Internet. What NADA has done is create a website that allows naive RVers to access their retail or consumer edition of the NADA Recreation Vehicle Appraisal Guide and end up over-valuing their RVs. RV Dealers love this site. It allows them to take full advantage of the huge markup available in RVs to 'show' these naive RVers an appealing retail 'deal' loaded with dealer profit . Trade-In values are not available in favor of 'Low Retail' and "Average Retail" pricing figures. What is missing from this online 'service' is the basis for most valid and accurate RV Value Reports. First of all, the online 'service' does not disclose the basis for the numbers presented. The basis is the New Value or what the coach was worth when it was new. If most of the RVers who use this website knew what the "Suggested List", New Value figure or basis was, they would quickly relize all the 'options' included on the coach in question are more than covered by what the NADA wholesale edition calls "suggested List". Used Wholesale or Trade-In Value is also not available and is critical information for both RV buyers and sellers. What's The Smart RV Buyer & Seller To Do? The answer is simple and direct. Gain access to this RV wholesale pricing information! The best way to do this is by ordering one of our RV Value Reports. We use both the Kelley RV Blue Book and the NADA Blue Book wholesale edition information to produce the most comprehensive and up-to-date RV pricing information available anywhere. We work with both new and used RVs from the current model year all the way back to the mid 1970s.
