Consider renting one and taking an extended "testdrive" with your family and belongings. Before you rent... Determine whether you want to rent an RV near your home and drive it to your destination or fly to your vacation location and rent an RV there. Many larger rental companies offer fly-drive packages. Make sure you have a valid driver's license and can prove your age. Rental companies do not all have the same required minimum driving age, so check before you go if you have any doubts. Check with your car insurance carrier to see if your rental RV is covered under your current policy. If not, or if coverage is not adequate, you may need additional coverage from the rental agency. Why Rent? Renting enables you to try various types of RVs and learn from actual experience which onebest suits your particular needs. Or, perhaps you already know and enjoy the RV lifestyle but aren'tready to own. Of course, many people rent RVs simply for the fun, freedom, and flexibility of RVing. What to Rent? Motorhomes are the most popular rental model. However, travel trailers, truck campers, and folding camping trailers are available at some rental outlets. Most RV rental companies provide "housekeeping" packages (dishes, pots, pans, etc.) for a nominalfee. RV rental dealers fully instruct customers in the operation of their vehicles. Even if you're driving or towing an RV for the first time, features like automatic transmissions, power brakes and steering makeit easy for experienced drivers to adjust to the difference in size, height and weight. Where to Rent? More than 460 national chain outlets and local RV dealerships rent RVs, and manyoffer state-of-the-art, late model year units. A growing number of campgrounds also offer on-siterentals. To find a rental company near you, click here . Don't forget your local yellow pages!
