SilverLevel Sponsors A Little History andCurrent Information on The Quartzsite Shows The Quartzsite RV Show opened the gates on January 28th, 1984 at the corner of Hwy 95 (now Central) and Business 10 (now Main Street) in Quartzsite, Arizona. With just 60 exhibitors and a small tent, the "new show in town" was still very popular since the majority of the people in Quartzsite we're RVers. In 1987 the show, now re-named The Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show , moved down the street to the Quartzsite Trailer Park which was situated directly across from the major attraction in town at that time, the Quartzsite Pow Wow. For the next several years The Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show enjoyed a tremendous run and huge crowds, with the largest crowds of all showing up during the Quartzsite Pow Wow. This new home for The Quartsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show lasted 10 years and the RV Show grew to a point where the current 3.5 acre show site could barely hold the number of exhibitors that were now vying for exhibit space at this popular annual event. In 1997 the "BIG TENT", as the show had become known, moved across the freeway to it's present home, just 1/2 mile South of I-10 on Hwy 95. ( now 700 S. Central) The new 20 acre facility, a former dry campground, was just what the doctor ordered for the expanding show. At that time in Quartzite, parking was almost impossible to find, legally. With the new Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show Show Grounds, the show was able to offer over 15 acres of public parking and the promoters, Kenny King and Mal Mallory, made the decision to offer their parking FREE to the public, while many other of the shows in town were already starting to charge to park. It was obviously a wise decision as in 1997, their first year at the new site, a major change in traffic patterns occurred. During the major show days at Quartzsite that year, the infamous Quartzsite traffic jam that once clogged Main Street from the freeway offramp on the East end of town, all the way to Four Corners, immediately shifted to the "South Side" of town. Luckily, the new Quartzite Shows Show Grounds had front and rear access and while the traffic was still terrible, the ability to flow the traffic through the Quartzsite Shows Show Grounds made it somewhat manageable. The new and permanent home of the Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show was a HUGE success! In 1998 the promoters decided to add a second show to their calendar and the First Annual Quartzsite Hobby, Craft & Gem Show was born. While the new Craft Show shared the same, beautiful show facility, it did not attain the instant success that the RV Show had enjoyed back in 1984. In addition, the new show barely used 50% of the, then, 30,000 sq. ft., fully carpeted structure. During the inaugural Quartzsite Hobby, Craft & Gem Show someone made the comment that maybe the promoters should consider bringing in a few hot rods and classic cars to fill up the unused portion of the huge structure and to attract more people to the Craft Show. The promoters took the suggestion into consideration, however they did not make a decision to go forward with the car show until the latter part of October, 1998. Hoping to attract 50 cars in their first year and with less than 90 days to get the job done, the promoters and a few volunteers descended on any and every car show in the Southwest, passing out literature and talking to car owners. They had also recently uploaded their new web site on the Internet and spent numerous hours e-mailing car clubs, car magazines and anyone else that was even remotely connected to hot rods, classic cars or car shows. By opening day they had received over 150 registrations and more that 120 cars actually attended the inaugural show. Not only did the new Quartzsite Rock & Roll Classic Car Show exceed all expectations, the crowd that showed up each day that weekend exceeded the entire attendance for the Quartzsite Hobby, Craft & Gem Show held the year prior, and that was a 9 day event! These beautiful and unique custom cars, hot rods, street rods, muscle cars and classic cars, combined with the Arts & Crafts, Hobby items, jewelry and gem displays, makes for a spectacular event and the future looks very bright for both shows. The promoters are shooting for 250+ cars for their 2004 show and with the huge crowd that was attracted, due to the popularity of the combined Hobby, Craft & Gem Show and Classic Car Show, the promoters expect the exhibitor list for the Craft Show to grow considerably as well. The Craft Show is now being referred to as "RV SHOW II" as the attendees are primarily RVers. If you cannot make the huge RV Show you can see an awful lots of RV and travel related exhibits plus 100's of hot rods and classics during the Craft/Car show. During the summer of 1998 the promoters finally settled a long and contentious litigation surrounding their purchase of the land. Once they were able to get free and clear title to their new Show Grounds, they immediately began upgrading the facility for the 1999 shows. In return for supplying the major portion of the water necessary to complete the re-paving project of Interstate 10 from the California border to Quartzsite, almost 18 acres of asphalt millings were laid down on the Quartsite Shows Show Grounds. This was a major improvement and nearly eliminated the number one exhibitor and customer complaint of the past; " It's too dusty !" Little did the promoters know at the time, but without the addition of this asphalt, there was no way that they would have been able to attract so many of the finest and most valuable hot rods, custom and classic cars in the Southwest to their new Classic Car Show in Quartzsite. Once the car owners heard that their cars would go inside the "BIG TENT" and that the Show Grounds and parking lot were under asphalt, the "too dusty" reputation of Quartzsite was a moot subject. The promoters also added a sewage treatment area to facilitate better service for the 150-200 exhibitor RVs camping on the Quartzsite Shows Show Grounds during the three shows. New and upgraded electrical service was added to the Northern and Southern borders of the Quartzsite Shows Show Grounds as well. We're talking about a major electrical upgrade here or as the head electrician from Trade Show Electric of Los Angeles, CA, who wires the show stated; "They're probably capable of powering up most of Quartzsite in a pinch!" Permanent water service was also installed throughout the Quartzsite Shows Show Grounds for the numerous food concessions and "live-aboard" exhibitors at the three shows. What was, only six months ago, a barren piece of desert is now a facility that is comparable to many fairgrounds across the country. Just prior to the 1999 shows, a foot-traffic gate was opened between the Quartzsite Shows Show Grounds and the 23 acre facility of The Tyson Wells Sell-A-Rama, the premier Rock, Gem and flea market in Quartzsite. Just like back in the old days when the RV Show was situated across from the Pow Wow, the Quartzsite Shows and Tyson Wells now share in the huge amount of traffic that each show attracts by allowing a safer and shorter route for the public to navigate between these two major venues. With Tyson's new Craft Show, Prospector's Panorama and the Car/Craft Show open all at the same time along with the expansion of the Rice Ranch selling area across Hwy 95, it gives the RVers a reason to extend their stay in the area. Many of the RV Show exhibitors have realized that the people that attend the Craft/Car show are also RVers and many have elected to stay on for the 5 day Hobby, Craft & Gem Show in 2006. In the event of an accident, renter and / or driver must disclose to El Monte RV any insurance coverage they may have. This outline description is not a complete description of the various coverage plans. The El Monte RV rental contract contains the complete legal provisions of the plans. Public Liability (included in nightly rate) El Monte RV maintains insurance coverage for liability claims, property damage and / or personal injuries resulting from the operation of an El Monte RV vehicle. Coverage provides third party legal limits to protect the renter and authorized drivers. Liability coverage is limited to the minimum financial limits determined by the US state or Canadian province in which the incident occurred. Claims in excess of the state or province limits may arise. These claims are the responsibility of the renter. El Monte RV assumes no responsibility for such liability claims unless client has purchased the Supplemental Liability Insurance Vehicle Incident Protection (VIP) (included in nightly rate) Jurisdiction: USA and Canada VIP coverage reduces the renter’s responsibility to $700 per occurrence in case of overhead damage, undercarriage damage, damage from vehicle back up, vandalism, theft or windshield damage regardless of fault and for costs incurred in transporting damaged vehicle to the rental station, including towing and storage, provided renter is in compliance with the terms and conditions of the rental contract. Certain exclusions apply, see below. VIP only covers damage to the motor home or vehicle itself while under the rental contract and does not in any way limit the renter’s responsibility for liability claims, property damage, and / or personal injuries (see Pubic Liability above). Deductible : Per occurrence: $700 - provided the following exclusions have not occurred. This deductible in non-refundable under any circumstances. Exclusions: Include but are not limited to the following: Use of a rental vehicle in violation of the terms and conditions of the rental contract. Motor home or vehicle damage caused while driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics. Accidents arising out of the use of a rental vehicle by an unauthorized driver. Costs incurred in transporting damaged vehicle to the rental station, including towing and storage, while traveling in Alaska or Northern Canada. Interior damage. Damage during off-road use. Overheating or freezing of rental vehicle systems. Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) (included in the nightly rate) Jurisdiction: USA and Canada Supplemental Liability Insurance provides excess auto liability insurance that protects the renter for the difference between the underlying insurance and up to $1,000,000 against claims by a third party for bodily injury and / or property damage sustained as a result of an accident while operating the El Monte RV rental vehicle. If the renter resides outside the United States and is covered by a foreign Liability Insurance policy, the foreign Liability Insurance coverage will be excess/secondary over the SLI purchased pursuant to the rental contract. There is no deductible with the Supplemental Liability Insurance. Exclusions: Include but are not limited to the following Use of a rental vehicle in violation of the terms and conditions of the rental contract. Motor home or vehicle damage caused while driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics. Accidents arising out of the use of a rental vehicle by an unauthorized driver. Renter’s liability for damage to the rental vehicle. CLIENT INFORMATION First Night Accommodation We strongly recommend that clients spend the first night in a hotel. Collection of a motor home on the day of arrival of an international flight is not permitted. Please indicate to Complete North America at the time of booking if an El Monte transfer is required. El Monte RV transfer is restricted to designated hotels only. No refund for self-transfer. No transfers are offered for same day flight arrivals Transfer Procedures: Standard Transfer Included for most pick up and return locations – exception: Vancouver, Denver & Miami. Standard Transfer Shuttle Service pick up from hotel: 10:00-14:00 hours. Standard Transfer Shuttle Service, client must call 1.800.367.6507 by 09:00 no later than the morning of scheduled pick-up to arrange a transfer time. The shuttle meets clients at designated hotels between 10:00 and 14:00. Seattle & Vancouver hotel transfer: approximately 11:30 hours [ $60 Surcharge each way ]. US Border Crossing Fee is $6 per person. A visa to enter the United States may be required. Standard transfer not offered at Denver & Miami. Clients must arrive and return at their own cost. However, clients must still call for vehicle readiness. Standard time of vehicle readiness is 13:00. Priority AM Departure Transfer (PAD) Priority AM Departure (PAD) Transfer Shuttle Service Time: 07:15-08:00 hours [$50 Surcharge] El Monte RV must received PAD transfer hotel information no less than 7 days before the scheduled pick-up date. The shuttle will arrive only at designated PAD. hotels between 7:15 am – 8:00 am. Priority AM Departure Motor home (PAD) Pick-up Time = 08:00-11:00 hours P.A.D. transfer not offered at Vancouver, Dallas, Denver & Miami Self-Transfer: Clients providing their own transportation at their own expense: Clients should call 1.800.367.6507 on the morning of scheduled pick-up to arrange a vehicle pick-up time and be at the station no less than 1 hour before station’s official closing time. Clients should come to the station between 08:00 - 10:00 if participating in the PAD program. Return Motor home Return Time: 08:00 - 11:00 hours Return Transfer Shuttle Service Time: 10:00-14:00 hours Seattle & Vancouver Return Transfer Shuttle Service Time = approximately 08:30 hours [$60 Surcharge] Late Fee will be applied and no transfer offered for returns after 11:00 am. No exceptions. Return transfer not offered at Denver & Miami. Motor home Pick Up and Return Procedures Even though clients may be picked up earlier motor homes are generally ready for takeover between 13:00 and 16:00. No refund if client picks up later than the booked day of departure. No refund for any reason if rental is terminated by clients before the scheduled return date. A $50+ per hour penalty will be charged for returns after 11:00 am without prior authorization from rental station. Security Deposit Clients are required to leave a $500 security deposit at the time of departure. We require that the deposit be guarantee by a credit card with sufficient credit balance to cover this amount (major credit cards only – no ATM/debit cards accepted). The security deposit guarantee is valid only for the duration of the rental contract and will not appear on the client’s credit card statement, therefore, it will not necessitate a ‘refund’. The security deposit capture is automatically released upon completion of the return contract provided that the rental vehicle is returned clean inside, undamaged and on time. Customer Orientation Clients will receive a full orientation of the motor home, including client’s maintenance and use responsibility. Orientation consists of a video in English, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish or Japanese introducing the general concepts of motor home use, as well as a personal walk-around of motor home with client by a qualified instructor. Operator manuals are provided for clients to take with them in English, Dutch, German, French, Italian, Spanish or Japanese. Storage Luggage storage is available on a limited basis at each gateway location. However, to facilitate the pick up and drop off procedures, we recommend that the clients store their luggage in their vehicle. Soft-sided or collapsible bags are best for storage. Luggage storage is at the client’s own risk. Maintenance and Use Responsibility Client is responsible for routine maintenance while traveling (coolant, oil, tire pressure) as well as reporting mechanical failures immediately. Clients may be held responsible for mechanical damage due to negligence in operation and /or in performing normal maintenance. Tools for vehicle repair are not provided since clients are not authorized to make repairs. Vehicle Support In the event of a mechanical breakdown requiring repairs under $75 clients will be reimbursed upon presentation of receipts and any replaced parts. For needed repairs over $75 clients must call El Monte RV’s roadside Assistance office for prior authorization. A toll free number is provided for assistance with problems, questions, etc. Roadside Assistance: 1-800-367-64707 during business hours and weekends. In the event of a breakdown requiring the vehicle to be in repair for more than 12 hours El Monte RV will refund lost-use rental charges. El Monte RV’s maximum liability shall be for the refund of daily rental charges or fractions thereof. Radio, air-conditioning, refrigerator, generator, microwave, appliances, automatic step and cruise control, for example, are not considered to be mechanical breakdowns. In order to be eligible for a lost-use refund client must have contacted El Monte RV’s Roadside Assistance department during the rental period and must have followed their instructions, self-help tips, and / or recommendations for repair. Traffic Tickets and Citations Client is responsible for all traffic tickets and citations incurred during the rental period. Tickets must be handed to the rental office during return of the vehicle. Clients will be charged up to $250 for penalties and administrative charges for non-reporting. Fuel Fuel costs are client’s responsibility. Gasoline tanks are full at pick up and must be returned full or the difference will be estimated and the clients will be charged. No claims are made as to fuel consumption. Fuel consumption will vary according to where and how vehicle is driven. Substitutions We make every effort to provide the clients with the model reserved. El Monte RV reserves the right to substitute models which are similar, higher rated or longer, i.e. a Class A vehicle may be substituted for a cab-over model. No refund for additional fuel consumption, ferry charges or campground fees will be given due to increased length or size of motor home. Should a smaller or lower rated vehicle be offered and accepted, liability will be limited to a refund of the price differential between the model paid and the model received. No refund will be due should a smaller or lower rated vehicle be requested by the client. Travel Restrictions Clients are restricted from travelling to certain regions due to road conditions, extreme weather, acts of God, and /or availability of support. Restrictions are subject to change without notice and clients should inquire in advance for any restrictions along their intended itinerary. Please note the following restrictions: Clients are responsible for informing themselves of the conditions and feasibility of their intended itinerary. Off-road driving (non-public and / or ‘logging’ roads) is not permitted. Travel in Death Valley is not permitted July and August. In May, June and September travel is permitted, however, customer is fully responsible for and all mechanical problems and / or towing or vehicle recovery costs. Ground temperatures can reach 140 F or 60 C. Travel to Alaska or Northern Canada is permitted at client’s own risk. However, there is no reimbursement for repairs or lost use. Travel into Mexico is permitted at client’s own risk and with purchase of El Monte RV’s Mexico Auto Liability Insurance (MALI). However, there is no reimbursement for repairs, lost use or deductibles for damage. Travel to New York City / Manhattan is not permitted. Travel during the winter months is permitted. However, clients are responsible for any damage due to systems freezing or cold weather. As a precautionary measure, water may be replaced by anti-freeze to prevent water systems from freezing. Customers must plan on using bottled water. Special instructions may be given at the rental counter. Travel in summer months and /or in extreme temperatures can strain motor home systems such as air conditioner, generator or refrigerator. We maintain our motor home fleet to accommodate all weather conditions; however, clients should be made aware that performance of motor home systems under extreme conditions cannot be guaranteed. Client Requirements Renter (contract signer) must be at least 21 years of age with valid identification. (Driver’s license, passport, etc.). Additional drivers must be present at pick up of the rental vehicle and sign the rental contract. There is no charge for additional drivers. Authorized drivers must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and identification, and be listed on the rental contract. An International Driver’s License is recommended, though not required. A major credit card with available credit of at least the amount of the Security Deposit is required (no ATM/debit cards accepted). The credit card must be issued to the signer or co-signer of the contract. B. Times of Operation El Monte RV locations are open 7 days a week Monday to Saturday 8:00 to 17:00 and Sunday from 8:00 to 16:00. Some locations reduce operation times during off season. New York, Dallas, Denver , Bellingham (Vancouver/Seattle) and Miami are closed on Sundays all year. Bellingham (Vancouver/Seattle) is closed Saturdays and Sundays October through May. All stations are closed for the following holidays. No bookings will be accepted for pick up or return on these days. No exceptions.
