Program Information This is a 60-hour course with 48 hours theory and 12 hours practical. The course is offered as required by industry, and delivered using the Internet as a distance delivery method. The 48 hours of theory is usually delivered twice a week for 3 hours in evenings. The 12 hours practical requires the technician to travel to Kelowna for one weekend. In 1973 the State made county boards responsible for the general care and treatment of the mentally ill. WMHI is responsible for meeting the needs for specialized services that cannot be met by community agencies. Winnebago's programs are designed to serve mentally ill children and adults, severely disturbed and difficult patients, and forensic patients, all requiring specialized services. WMHI's patient population average is 272, with 950 admissions per year, and is staffed by approximately 700 employees.
