Meeting transcripts, presentations, and other items related to the closure will be added as they become available. We plan to close the Bayou Village Mobile Home Park on 30 June 2008. The following three factors influenced our plan: The utility infrastructure systems (water, sewer and electrical) that serve the area need major upgrades to guarantee continuity of service. These systems require significant financial investment to bring them up to standards. As a result of the recent tropical storm activities, the state of Florida has issued new Flood Plain mappings. Approximately 20% of Bayou Village is within the 100-year flood plain. This re-designation has already been included on the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) dated 5 December 2002. All military family housing operations on Eglin AFB will be privatized within the next 2-4 years. The trailer park is not included in the privatization initiative, and the ability of the Eglin Housing Office to manage the trailer park will be severely limited. We have set 5 years as the closing period to allow park residents time to find a new location for their mobile home. In the interim, no new mobile homes will be authorized to move into Bayou Village. At this time, we will continue to allow occupants to sell in place; however, all incoming occupants will be advised of our future closure plans, and the Housing Office staff has been instructed to provide written notification to any prospective buyers.
